Read More On January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a global warning due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 disease. The transmission and pathogenicity of this disease is very high and it rapid global spread. Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most common diseases in the world, the main symptom of which is chronic high blood sugar. In various studies, the possible relationship between diabetes and COVID-19 has been investigated. Corona has been more severe in diabetic patients than in healthy people. Identifying risk factors for COVID-19 is crucial and can play a role in determining treatment priorities; this study was conducted to investigate the frequency of COVID-19 patients with diabetes and the relationship between the two diseases in Ghaem Hospital, Mashhad. In this study, the information available in the medical archive in Ghaem Hospital of Mashhad related to the patients hospitalized due to Coronavirus from April 2019 to September 2021 was used. Demographic information of the patients, including the history of diabetes, blood sugar level, and recovery status was extracted from the files by the project student, and then patients with diabetes were randomly selected with the help of a random number table, by calling the patient or first-degree relatives through the number registered in the file, if possible, information related to have toothache during and after hospitalization, and oral ulcers. During and after hospitalization, the type of diabetes was taken and recorded. In this study, the information of 1370 patients were analyzed. Among the patients, 61.5% had diabetes. 52.9% of cases were related to men and 47.1% were related to women. The mortality rate in patients with diabetes (38.3%) was significantly higher than that in people without diabetes (30.7%). Likewise, the average age of people who died due to Corona was higher than those who were discharged. Oral ulcers during hospitalization were reported in 58.1% of people with type 1 diabetes and 35.3% of people with type II diabetes, and the difference between them was also significant. Oral ulcers after hospitalization were seen in 16.3% of people with type 1 diabetes and 1.5% of people with type II diabetes. In this study, the death rate of patients with diabetes was higher than that of normal people. It was reported that people with type I diabetes have more oral ulcers than people with type II diabetes, which requires more dental attention for these people.

The pandemic has notably impacted healthcare systems in countries like India and Indonesia. Remdesivir has emerged as a popular treatment option, but its real-world effectiveness remains a subject of debate due to varying patient demographics, disease severities, and healthcare settings. This review aims to systematically analyse observational study data to evaluate the real-world efficacy of Remdesivir in treating COVID-19 patients across various global healthcare settings. It focuses on patients with moderate to severe COVID-19, synthesizing data to understand the role and benefits as well as potential limitations of Remdesivir in clinical practice. The review protocol was registered with PROSPERO and involved comprehensive literature searches in databases like PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar. The search, spanning from the beginning of the pandemic until April 2022, focused on studies involving adult patients with severe or serious COVID-19 treated with Remdesivir. Data extraction followed a standardized form, and the quality of non-randomized studies was assessed using the ROBINS-I method. The review included a narrative synthesis due to the heterogeneity of the studies. The review analysed data from nine studies, revealing varied outcomes in terms of The World Health Organization (WHO) ordinal scale clinical improvement, mortality rates, need for oxygen support and hospital stay length. The results indicated that Remdesivir, particularly in combination with other treatments like corticosteroids, could have a positive impact on reducing symptom severity, mortality rates, and hospitalization duration in COVID-19 patients. Remdesivir, as part of COVID-19 treatment Regimens, shows promise in real-world clinical settings, particularly in reducing the severity and mortality of the disease. However, Remdesivir effectiveness varies based on patient demographics, disease severity, and the healthcare environment. Future research should focus on long-term outcomes and the identification of patient subgroups that could benefit the most from Remdesivir.

Read More Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) includes Crohn’s Disease (CD), and Ulcerative Colitis (UC), the two main types of IBD. The IBD incidence is rising globally and among the young age. Endoscopy has a principal role in rating IBD mucosal lesions. Though, it is expensive and invasive. MicroRNAs could be included in regulation of particular genes and included in inflammation. Disorders in microRNAs levels might cause disease development. The objective of our study is to investigate the role of microRNA-16 and microRNA- 106a levels as indicators for diagnosis and assessing the IBD activity. The values of miR 16 and miR 106a were measured in plasma from 20 healthy volunteers (group I) and 40 UC patients (group II) and 40 CD patients (group III) by quantitative real time-PCR (qRT-PCR). Endoscopic severity index was calculated based on laboratory and endoscopic findings. Significant upregulation of miR 16 and miR 106a levels in group II and group III than group I. A positive correlation was demonstrated between both miR 16 and miR 106a with endoscopic severity index. ROC curves of miR 16 for detecting UC showed sensitivity and specificity of 92.5 % and 90 % particularly. ROC curves of miR 106a for differentiating active from inactive CD showed sensitivity and specificity of 90 % and 75 % particularrly. both miR 16 and miR 106a could act as promising biomarkers of IBD diagnosis and assessing its activity aiding in its proper management.Methods: The values of miR 16 and miR 106a were measured in plasma from 20 healthy volunteers (group I) and 40 UC patients (group II) and 40 CD patients. (group III) by quantitative real time –PCR ( qRT-PCR) .Endoscopic severity index was calculated based on laboratory and endoscopic findings .Results: Significant upregulation of miR 16 and miR 106a levels in group II and group III than group I.
